ABOUT ANNABEL
Annabel Newland is a writer/director who’s work often explores arbitrary and mundane human experiences. She is interested in ideas themes that explore the complexities of relationships and the female experience of youth. She is inspired by emotional endeavours and the beauty and pain that comes from love, hope, grieve and longing. She wishes for more female centric stories to be part of the film cannon and to depict the reality of these experiences.
She is passionate about film from a global perspective and uses personal stories to fuel her work. She is in her final year studying at AFTRS and following graduation is looking for opportunities to work as a story developer, writer’s assistant or working for a casting agency. What really inspires her are female driven stories, where women are portrayed with complexity and humanity- flaws and all. She is passionate about telling stories that are in line with her voice, depicting the normalcy of life in it’s most intricate moments, where film making is centred around bring people together and welcoming empathy.
